How Ruebex uses AI
Ruebex uses AI for some features. When you tick "I agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy" at sign-up, you agree to the AI processing described here.
Where we use AI
- Writing feedback, including example sentences and, with Ruebex Plus, example answers.
- Speaking. A speech-to-text AI turns each recording saved to your account into a transcript. If you ask for feedback, an AI writes it, with an estimated band (a practice estimate, not an official IELTS score).
- AI Coach replies. The Coach is a computer program, not a person or a teacher.
- Translations of Ruebex lessons, questions and words into Uzbek or Arabic.
What we send to the AI
- Writing feedback: the task, your answer and the language you chose for explanations.
- AI Coach: your question, your recent messages in that chat, your study goals and a short summary of your recent practice. If you open the Coach from a task, lesson or feedback, we also send that item, your saved answer and its feedback.
- Speaking: each recording saved to your account, with nothing else about you. The AI that writes the feedback gets the questions, the transcripts and simple fluency figures, not your voice.
- Translations: only Ruebex's own text.
We never send your name, email address, photo, age or account number. But the AI reads whatever you type or say, so don't include private details about yourself or anyone else.
Who runs the AI
All our AI goes through one external AI provider, outside the UK. We let it send requests only to model hosts that, according to the provider, keep nothing after answering (zero data retention). Each recording goes to one approved host that runs the speech-to-text model; if that model is unavailable, a backup model runs on an approved host. We may change hosts under the same rules. Is my work used to train AI?
No. Ruebex does not use your answers, recordings or chats to train AI models.
How long is it kept?
Your answers, feedback and Coach chats stay in your account until it is deleted. Coach chats are also deleted 12 months after your last message in them. We delete each Speaking recording 30 days after you make it, or sooner if you delete the practice session. Transcripts and Speaking feedback stay until you delete the session or your account. To remove a single chat or written answer, contact us.
What AI can't do
- AI can make mistakes. Check each point against your own answer.
- AI feedback is practice guidance, not official IELTS marking. Writing feedback gives no band. The Speaking band is a practice estimate, not an official IELTS score, and the AI can't hear your pronunciation.
- AI example answers are teaching examples, not guaranteed Band 9 answers.
- The Coach is only for study help. It can't help with emergencies or personal problems. If you feel unsafe, upset or worried, talk to an adult you trust or call your local emergency number.
Rules for using Ruebex AI
- Don't try to make the AI say harmful, hateful or rude things.
- Don't hand in AI-written text as your own work for school, university or a test.
